Bow Headband (Crochet Pattern): tieback, thin, halo

Headbands are so fun to make. They are quick and easy and the perfect gift for a little girl, a friend, or a relative. Don't you think? So, here I have a very simple pattern for you. I think it turned out great and it only takes minutes!

By the way (I know this is random), if you haven't signed up for my giveaway, do it now. Last day to enter is August 31st, 2014. Here is a link: SIGN UP NOW!!! :-)

Bow Headband Pattern:

Materials:

1. Crochet thread - size 10 (2 colors)
2. Crochet hook - size 10

Abbreviations:

ch - chain
sc - single crochet
rnd - round
st - stitch
hdc - half double crochet

Making the Band:

Because this headband ties in the back, leave a long tail (about 3 inches).

Chain until you have 10 inches (longer for bigger heads but this one is for a baby).

rnd 1: Crochet in front loop only. 2 sc in 1 st; 1 sc until you get to last st; 2 sc in last st

Continuing in the rnd, 2 sc in 1st st; 1 sc until last st; 2 sc in last st. Sl st in next and fasten off.

The finished band should look like that (see picture below).

Leave a long tail. Because I used crochet thread, I later added another strand to the two tails. That makes them thicker and easier to tie.

Making the Bow:

The bow is made the exact same way as the band. We'll only add another rnd.

ch 7 (if this seems too small or you just want a bigger bow, ch more)

rnd 1: Crochet in front loop only. 2 sc in 1 st; 1 sc until you get to last st; 2 sc in last st
Continuing in the rnd, 2 sc in 1st st; 1 sc until last st; 2 sc in last st. Sl st in next and ch 1.

rnd 2: 1 hdc, 2 hdc (once); 1 hdc until last 2 sts; 1 hdc, 2 hdc (once in last two sts).
Continuing in the rnd: 1 hdc, 2 hdc (once); 1 hdc until last 2 sts; 1 hdc, 2 hdc in last 2 sts.

Sl st and fasten off.

Weave in ends.

Middle band:

I have a little band wrapped around the bow in the middle (picture below). To do that just ch 7 and sc once. Wrap around bow and sew.

Glue or sew the bow to the band and voila! The headband is done!!!
