Baby Shower Crochet Gift (Hat and Peg Doll Baby Pattern)

A friend is having a baby girl so I wanted to make something for her. I hadn't worked with yarn for a while but this little project was worth it.

Hat Pattern

Materials:
1. Lion Brand "Jiffy" - color fisherman (http://www.joann.com/lion-brand-jiffy-yarn/prd23043.html) x 2
2. Simply soft yarn - pink for flower
3. Crochet hook
4. Small heart shaped button
5. Yarn needle
6. Scissors

Notes:
1. This hat is for 0 - 3 months old baby. You can size your hat following the chart in this link: http://anniespictureperfect.blogspot.co.il/2013/01/how-to-properly-size-crochet-hats-chart.html

2. You will crochet in the round and join each round with a slip stitch

Abbreviations:
mr - magic ring
sl st - slip stitch
hdc - hald double crochet
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
st - stitch
trbl - treble

Pattern:

Use two strands of the yarn to crochet the hat.

Remember to join each rnd with sl st and ch 2.

mr, ch 2, 8 hdc in the ring

rnd 1: 2 hdc in each st - 16 sts
rnd 2: 1 hdc, 2 hdc in next (repeat 8 times) - 24 sts
rnd 3: 1 hdc in 2 sts, 2 hdc in 3rd (repeat 8 times) - 32 sts

If you need your hat to be for a bigger baby (child), continue increasing until you reach the measurements you need.

rnds 4 - 8: hdc around - 32 sts
rnd 9: 4 dc in 1st st, sl st in next (repeat until the end of rnd)

Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Flower:
mr, ch 2, 10 hdc in ring
sl st to join and ch 1
rnd 1: 4 trbl in 1st st, ch 1, sl st in next, ch 1, 4 trbl in st (repeat until the end of rnd)

Sew the flower to the hat and sew the heart button in the middle of the flower. Weave in the ends.
